How to reduce confetti stitches
Confetti stitches are isolated colors surrounded by different colors. They often appear when a converter tries to preserve photographic noise, compression artifacts, or tiny lighting changes.
Not every isolated stitch is bad
Keep isolated stitches that create an eye highlight, whisker root, nose reflection, or distinctive marking. Remove those scattered across flat fur, sky, walls, or an out-of-focus background.
A safe cleanup order
- Save or download the original chart.
- Run automatic cleanup once.
- Compare the eyes, nose, mouth, and silhouette.
- Undo or repaint any important detail that disappeared.
- Merge only the closest colors after cleanup.
Reduce the cause, not just the symptom
A tighter crop, fewer colors, and a simpler background prevent more confetti than repeated cleanup. If isolated stitches remain high, reduce the palette by two to four colors before reducing pattern width.
