From photo to makeable pattern

Start with a clear subject and simple background. For a first project, try a width of 48 cells and a 12–16 color palette.

1. Add an image

Drop in a JPG, PNG, or WebP image. The browser reads it locally; the image is not sent to a server. Files up to 20 MB are supported.

2. Choose a pattern type

• Cross stitch: adds stitch marks over colored cells.
• Fuse beads: previews each cell as a round bead with a subtle highlight.
• Pixel art: displays clean square pixels.

3. Balance detail and effort

A wider grid preserves more detail but takes longer to make. Fewer colors simplify material planning. Portraits often work at 60–90 cells wide; icons and simple characters often work at 24–50.

4. Pick a color palette

Adaptive mode extracts colors from your image. DMC and Perler modes map pixels to a curated material palette. Screen colors vary, so compare the final list with a physical color card before buying supplies.

5. Read the color key

The finished key lists a symbol, material code, color name, and quantity. Export the CSV for planning, save the project data for reference, or download a PNG chart.

6. Print or save as PDF

Turn on symbols and bold ten-cell lines, then choose Print / PDF. Use your browser’s print dialog to save a PDF or fit the chart to your preferred paper size.
